Greetings, greetings. Welcome to another episode of Truth to Power, your host, Taras and the Knight. And tonight I want to talk about fearlessness. After like this is an important topic, considering the climate over here.
In America, there's black people. We need to start practicing fearlessness and becoming more assertive. But before we practice fearlessness, first we got to know where fear is. So here's the definition of fear.
Fear is an unpleasant feeling triggered by a perception of danger, real or imagined. So how do you overcome fear? A lot of people may be asking themselves, well, we know a fear is now, so how are we going to overcome it? Well, you overcome fear by just doing it.
Let's get up and doing it. We have to go out and do the things that you fear. If you fear heights, then my suggestion would be, calm a ladder, go on a roller coaster, do something that involves heights. If you fear driving, my suggestion would be, you're behind the wheel.
If you're with somebody that's an experienced driver, somebody that can help you a guy do the process, you know? We have, and just like I told somebody before, you just never know how powerful you are until you just go out and do it and just put yourself out there and do it. You know, the time to seize the initiative is now. And we as Black people, after that, we have a lot of fears to overcome.
One fear in particular is commitment. When we as Black people, sometimes we commit to projects, we commit to things that's going to better our lives, but we don't seem to follow through with that. We don't seem to keep going with it. I think that's a fear of commitment.
We have a fear of committing to success sometimes. And we have to get over that fear. And I get it, you know, me growing up in the South, growing up in Louisiana, Canada, you know, your experience, your experience that I'm self-fulfilling the privacy from my teachers telling you what you're not going to do. And you know, a lot of people make jokes about it, but it's very serious.
It's a very serious thing that happens when you're growing up. A lot of people tell you that you're not going to be able to do yourself and self-fulfilling privacy sticks with you in your head. I make a stick with you until you become an adult. But as an adult, sometimes you have to rewire your mind.
You have to rewire your mind and become a better person. And, you know, overlook all those, all that saying that people are doing. You know, you got overlooked that. And people are saying that you're ugly.
You know, you got overlooked that because maybe they had some type of insecurity that they were fighting. And people say that you'll never make six figures in a job in your 20s. You have to overlook that because maybe just because they didn't do it, they try to project that on you. You know, you are different from everybody else.
You know, we got to start committing, having a commitment to success for one thing. And, you know, success can look different to different people. Right? So, and I put a meme up.
And I got it from Jason Blake. And it said that don't let somebody who's comfortable living in the suburbs make you uncomfortable with your mission to live in a mansion. And it's true. You know, everybody got their own goals.
Some people don't want to reach their heights and heights. And it's OK. You know, but you know, we got to go. We got to start committing two success.
We got to start saying success as something that we didn't start, we got to start saying success as something that is for us. Instead of taking a success for other people. And we're supposed to be at the bottom all the time. You know, we can't take pride in being at the bottom all the time.
We have to take pride in ourselves and just committing to success. And nothing we have to start committing to is we have to start committing to each other. And our battle with white supremacy racism, you know, part of the battle we guys are just doing. And we have to just start doing and being more assertive and aggressive when it comes to even goals.
We have to set our goals and we have to achieve them. You know, and nothing, you know, reading Mac that you can die. And then again, we don't know the day or the hour. We just know that we're going to go one day.
And how do you want to leave the serve? Do you want to leave the serve for the legacy or do you want to leave the serve which finances and shambles with nothing to lead the heirs or your own children and nothing to leave anybody? How do you want your name to be remembered with greatness or do you want to be remembered as being mediocre? You know, and that's my thing.
That's my thing. I say, and people ask me why I'm actually fearless because I got over there and I'm like, you know, you can just go at any moment. But it's how you die, which is important. It's how you live, which is important as well.
You know, not so much as your death that people don't know. People don't know how you live, how you treat it. The type of person you were. And we had to get over their fear of death, you know, just so we can just start accomplishing things.
And by the way, supremacy, racism. And I think that's what's holding so many black people back from really, really going cold and being very hyperbiscient about fighting racism is because they're so scared of death and they've been told their whole lives. And if you do this, then you're going to die. Like that fear has been instilled and started down for some reason.
And we got to get over that. You know, are you another conversation to take in life? You know, if you're so fearful, you're another conversation to take in life. You won't be able to.
You can't be so fearful to go for your goals and your goals. You know, you're so achieved and you can't be worried about what other people think how they feel. You have to go after it. This, you know, this episode is very different from my user episodes when I'm talking about strategies and stuff like that.
But I just want to give some empowerment. This is the show about empowerment. We speak in true power, but I'm also speaking in power empowerment to my people, you know, not my black people. But I just think that we could do better in certain departments.
I think they were better than the TV shoulders. I think we're better than we perceive ourselves to be, even in a gym. Okay. You know, we have obesity rate.
We have a rate of people being fat people. You know, people that's just like obese and that's not really in shape of statuesque. You know, most people say, listen, Tyra's may understand that you're healthy, that you want to be on this health care game, that you want people to lose weight, and you want people to be just like, well, after you're fine just the way I am. And I'm telling people why because you're accepting mediocrity.
Now you could be fine with who you are as a person, but you know, you can always improve on things. And that is wrong with trying to improve on things. People are like, if you try to improve on things, and it's not the bad. No, it's not the positive.
And as black people, we got to get into that mindset of always want to improve and become better. You know, in life and we got to keep going. We just have to. This is just a factor life like a factor nature, like you got to keep going.
And you got to keep striving to be the best that you possibly can be. And continue to work until you reach a goal and you're achieving success. You know, success is just not going to come like a child or success is going to require some early mornings, late nights, you got to be on your grind. And we got to just overcome your feelings.
You just have to. And what's strange with me is that I find strangers that a lot of people are going to be fine. And a lot of black people, a lot of us, we fear success. We fear achievement.
You know, sometimes people, you know, just even I just feel like we just feel. Yeah, we first success. I'm just going to say like we first success. Like if success was not going to let go, then we're trying to wait because maybe because we, you know, we have a fear of leaving people, we have a fear of change.
We have a fear of, you know, just things changing and stuff like that. But I read a book one time that said the most successful people embrace change. You know, I said, that's people want to need to stay the same. You know, just think about your bank account right now.
Make a personal goal to raise your bank account by $50,000. Right? That's a small achievement. It's a small goal that you can set for yourself by the end of the year.
But a big goal to set for you by the end of the year, can you increase your bank account to a million, even a couple hundred thousand. And I think we have to get into the mindset of us wanting to achieve achievement gets me out the bear this morning. And I'll wake up at the bear this morning saying I'm going to achieve this. I want to achieve this.
I want to do this. And even though I got a lot of things going on and I get, you know, a lot of people, I get criticized a lot about a lot of people saying that I don't get enough rest. I don't get enough sleeping that's going to make me in the long run. I don't even worry about it.
You know why? Because my mind is so focused on achieving these goals because, and I understand that you need sleep. Understand that you need sleep just, you know, we chose the badreads, you know, get yourselves back together, you know, things like that. Scientifically, you need sleep.
I'm not one of those people that's that's an advocate. I'm not sleeping. I get it. I understand.
But when you're trying to achieve something and you're passionate about it, you're going to go after it, you know, and I thought we had to do that as black people. But right now as a stance, I know one problem is white supremacy, white supremacy, and we have to get on that. We have to start fighting white supremacy with the high face. We have to get on that grind.
That's why the day goes. Another thing we got to do is we're going to find out to a game. You know, certain things are open to black people that we just don't know about. And we just have to start reading to get the information.
We have to call the TV, the mail out TV access and just start reading and getting access to all these materials that's open for us, you know, and I understand I get it. You know, I'm a black man in America. It's hard. It is hard.
Waking up every morning and going out on the grind and it is hard being rejected. But that's the nature of the bees. That's the nature of the bees. You're going to be rejected.
You're going to get told no, but you got to keep going, you know, like on this quote, this person is at this. But in a movie, the founder, I advise you guys like to move in the founder, the guy said, you know, nothing takes the place of persistence. Education will not as well as full of educated fools, which is true. We have a lot of educated fools out there.
You know, tell them that, you know, poor telling men are almost an anomaly. They're almost like, it's almost like they're out there with their talents, but they're not doing anything with it. You know, persistence, you got to keep going. And then we will finally defeat the problem, which is what's systematic white supremacy racism.
And then I do have this type of hope. I have this much hope. Otherwise, I don't be doing a documentary on it. I do think in the coming years, then all this will be a progressive black city, like in Atlanta, where you could come to your corporations businesses.
You know, we have to commit today, though, and we can't have a fear of committing today. Committing to bring this. We commit to playing basketball, becoming rappers, but we don't commit other places like being behind those on basketball players, all those rappers that's funding them. That's endorsing them, you know, but outside of my family, I was like, you know, Mr.
Bishop family, they have a 50 year plan for the family. And we got to get into that mindset with our families. Got to have a 50 year plan, start a business, right? Right after playing, make that business accessible, lay down the groundwork and get the kids involved.
Kids want to go to college? That's cool. And you're going to take care of this business as well. And this is the plan we got to lay it out like that for 50 straight years and they can come up with your plan and so on and so on, and so on, talking about generational wealth.
And what gives me and behoosing me is that black people have money, I mean, talk about spending it all the way, you can't take it with you. That's okay. You're not supposed to. You're supposed to pass it down to your heirs.
You know, the children that we have, we got to start looking at them as heirs and not just our children. Everybody wants to be a king and a queen. Nowadays, but nobody wants to play in the work. There's desire to become that you have to do to become a king or a queen.
Like they show Game of Thrones, which I'm not a fan of. I only seen one episode before I gather from it. Is that everybody's fighting for their throne? Everybody's putting their work to get to that throne.
They got people flying dragons and shit, just to even try to reach the throne. Everybody wants to get to that throne. That's how we got to get up every day. We got to get motivated like that.
So go up, get up and go out there and get it and get to that throne. Because it's always for the taking that we have to keep on going and striving for assistance. And we got to have get over this fear. We got to keep on going.
We got to get over this fear of becoming great. And we have to stop it, set the meter accurately. And we have to become great. You know, we have to change our mindset.
Now, that's all I have for tonight guys. Like I said, the documentary and we just worked out just has been taking a lot of my time. I made it to a long show next week. I have something playing.
I just want to thank you guys for listening to an internet wherever you are. I just spoke truth to power. Thank you. Have a good night.
