Fears Condition Of Clare Roads Impacting Tourist Reputation

Fáilte Ireland is being urged to commit funds to fixing Clare's roads amid concern for this county's tourist reputation. The Ennistymon Electoral Area has been granted over €6.5m for regional and local road repairs this year, which is up 20% on its previous allocation. Local representatives have expressed concern, however, that it still will not be nearly enough to resurface and strengthen the network for the expected boost in traffic this summer. Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy says visitors could be discouraged.
