Proverbs 9, Proverbs Series Proverbs tells us that we are to guard our hearts, for out of the heart come the issue or essence of life. In the conclusion of the narrative section of Proverbs, the two ways of life contend for our hearts. If we are wise, we listen to Wisdom’s instruction and correction that leads to life. If we are unwise, we reject Wisdom’s counsel and find ourselves with a hardened heart, a mocking attitude, with devastating consequences in our lives. In a world that advertises so many options and choices, the reality is that there are only two paths in life, one leading to a life of insight and understanding while the other leads to a frustrating, cynical and critical approach to life. We are left with the choice of which path we will choose.
