February 2020 Track Room Utilization Data

Here’s a short BIG Ideas Podcast based on a visit the week before last to a group in the Midwest.  The practice wants to increase patient access and thinks there are providers and nursing staff to support the change.  The question is room availability.  Fortunately, the practice tracks the specific room the patient is roomed in when they record the data in their practice management system (they use Centricity).  We were able to mine that data (in activity log, if you’re a Centricity user) and report how many minutes patients were in each room by day of the week, time of day, provider, and more.  We also found more ways to use that rooming data I will describe in the podcast.  Can you leverage similar data in your practice?  Thanks for joining me.
