Although “making room” for people with disabilities or people from other cultures than our own may seem like more obvious applications of this value of Grace, it’s clear that there are just as many serious divisions between different generations today. Young people look down on older people. Older people look down on younger people. But when that happens in the church, the whole body suffers! In this first part of making room for different generations, we will direct our attention to older people. We will see how vital it is to the thriving of the body of Christ for older generations to elevate the contributions of those who are younger. Those with age and wisdom can do this by helping us all remember what God has done and by supporting, with wisdom and insight, those who are younger as they build the future of this community.
