Federal judge freezes Trump mail ballot order
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has issued a new order freezing President Donald Trump's attempt to limit voting by mail for the midterm elections. The judge who issued Sunday night's decision was nominated by Trump and had previously declined to halt the president's executive order, saying at the time it was premature. The Supreme Court is already considering the Trump administration's appeal to another order from a federal judge prohibiting the Postal Service from enforcing its new rule before midterms. Election officials say they would not be able to implement Trump's new requirements before November, and mail-in ballots have already been sent out in multiple states.
