Feeding Tube Torture with Madeline Cheney

Imagine you’re listening to the news and they’re describing a form of torture and then you realize what they’re describing is something you do for your child's survival, DAILY! Our journey as parents to children with unique needs can involve pretty traumatizing tasks for us and our children. When they become part of our daily routine we don’t always process how hard they really are. On our story episode today, host Jessica Patay talks with Madeline Cheney about the hard things we go through as parents to help our children survive, the grief that comes with that and the tools we use to move through those experiences. Madeline Cheney is the host/creator of The Rare Life, a well-loved podcast for parents of children with rare conditions. She finds huge fulfillment in connecting with this community of parents in this way. Her experiences with her medically-complex son Kimball inspired the podcast. Kimball is a Buzz-lightyear loving four year old with a rare form of dwarfism and deaf-blindness, among other aspects of his rare syndrome.
