Prior to this, he served as a Senior Research Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank and as an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University, with a dissertation focused on gender differentials in the U.S. labor market. His research spans labor economics, applied microeconomics, and microeconometrics, with particular interests in search and matching models, gender disparities and discrimination, informality, inequality, wage dynamics, schooling choices, intergenerational mobility, and bargaining behavior in labor markets and households. Professor Flabbi has been affiliated with the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) since 2005 and has been a Research Fellow there since 2008.
