Fernandez Joins City for Record Fee | Chelsea F.C. News

Manchester City just shattered British transfer records by signing Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for £125 million — tying the all-time mark and locking him in for five years. The move pushes City’s summer spending past £430 million, with midfielders dominating the spending spree. Fernandez, who cost Chelsea £107 million last year, is now joining a revamped midfield after Bernardo Silva and Rodri left. He praised City as England’s most successful club and called it “the perfect challenge,” while also acknowledging his time at Chelsea — even after a red card in the World Cup final. Chelsea, meanwhile, cashed in big this summer, bringing in around £400 million from sales, including Fernandez, as they reshape their squad. City’s director Hugo Viana hailed Fernandez as a “complete midfielder” perfectly aligned with their elite player strategy.
