Festival UP: "The city is like a stage, the audience an active partner, and circus is an art"

Brussels once again resonated with contemporary circus as part of the Festival UP. The festival lasted a total of 11 days across 12 locations in Brussels, with its headquarters based in the Molenbeek district. The festival hosted companies from Belgium, France, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, and Spain. They performed in big tops, in a truck, on various theatre stages, and in public spaces. The program combined physical virtuosity, distinctive creative approaches, and hybrid forms, exploring not only bodies in motion but also contemporary political and social perspectives.
