Ep.127 Fes (or Fez) is where you want to be for the most authentic experience in Morocco. The heart of Fes is its people, and we were overwhelmed by their kindness and genuineness at every turn. In many ways it feels like time stands still here. This 1,200-year old city still preserves many of its ancient traditions, including the methods and skills used by the artisans at the Chouara Tannery, one of the oldest leather tanneries in the world. It’s much less commercial than Marrakech, and we appreciated that the Medina is filled with locals living their daily lives. We share our favorite restaurants, the top places to visit while you’re here, and take you on a day trip with us to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes.
