Dr. Kandel is a Professor of Physiology and Psychiatry and the founding director of the Center for Neurobiology and Behavior of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2000 for his work on the biological mechanisms for memory.
