Support for Kinship Carers Being a kinship carer who provides care for a family member or a friend’s child(ren) can be rewarding but it may be helpful to have other people to talk to who understand. There are seven groups across Fife where you can meet with other people who also provide kinship care. Ballingry: Benarty Community Centre - Monthly on Wednesday 10 to 11.30am Cowdenbeath: Maxwell Community Centre - Every second Wednesday 10 to 11.30am Cupar: St Johns Church - Weekly on Tuesday 10 to 11.30am Dunfermline: Broomhead Community Flat - Weekly on Thursday 10 to 11.30am Glenrothes: St Lukes Church - Weekly on Wednesday 10 to 11.30am Kirkcaldy: Linton Lane Centre - Weekly on Tuesday 12.30 to 2pm Methil: Wellesley Parish Church - Weekly on Wednesday 10 to 11.30am Fife Council has a dedicated Kinship Team to provide you with support or direct you to other appropriate organisations. For support including more information about the groups above, please contact the Kinship Team on 01592 583554 or email [email protected] Training opportunities: Kinship Carers Training Guide and Kinship Carers Training Programme. The Kinship Care Advice Service for Scotland (KCASS) also provides free, confidential, impartial advice to kinship families. Phone 0800 800 0006 Mon to Fri 10am to 2.30pm. KCASS has helpful information online at www.kinship.scott If the child in your care is not involved with Social Work Services you can contact Fife Social Work Services on 03451 551503. If you need to contact Social Work Services due to an emergency with the child in your care and it is outwith Mon to Friday 9am to 5pm or it is a public holiday, please call the Emergency Out of Hours Social Work Service team on 03451 550099.
