Iowa Hawkeye basketball and wrestling are in a frenzied focus this week. Big Ten titles for both the Men and Women hoops have them in an enviable position. The Brands Brothers and the wrestlers motor into the motor city for a showdown with the Nittany Lions, Wolverines and Buckeyes for a National championship. Quietly, across the street, the defending West Division champion Football Hawkeyes are readying for spring practice. March 23rd sees the opening session where the mold for this fall begins to take shape. Iowa lost to Michigan in the Championship game. A trip to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando New Years Day saw a late Kentucky touchdown result in a 20-17 victory for the Wildcats and end Iowa's three game bowl winning streak. With another successful recruiting class in the books, the coaches and players turn their attention to six months from now when a strong defense and special teams look for repeat performances of 2021. The offense wants more production from its QB and running game and should get both with a more seasoned offensive line and a years experience for gifted wide receivers Keegan Johnson and Arland Bruce the 4th.
