Jesslyn McCutcheon is a member of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) NW Piedmont and the AACC (American Association of Christian Counseling). Through NAMI Jesslyn is a Certified National Helpline Specialist, Peer to Peer Mentor, and speaks for NAMI IOOV (In Our Own Voice) and NAMI FaithNet presentations. Through the AACC, Jesslyn is a board certified mental health coach. Since being diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder 24 years ago, she actively advocates and speaks regarding mental illness. Her ministry, Fighting Goliath for Mental Illness helps people of any age, race, religion, or income who live with mental illness overcome the struggle and fear of not living a fulfilled life based upon biblical scripture, our own lived experience, and mental health resources. Jesslyn is currently in the process of writing her first book on her mental health journey and how her relationship with God gives her the armor she needs to stay on her feet and in recovery. Along with knowing how to take care of herself and recognizing the red flags. Jesslyn’s passion is speaking on the importance of spirituality and faith and why it is so important for churches to embrace a stigma-free mental health culture. Jesslyn is a member of First Baptist King and is an active part of singing on the praise team and choir.
