Fighting over dumb stuff

from Rock House Center Podcast

Fights over insignificant events often leave us feeling hurt or angry, or mystified and discouraged that such a small thing could blow out of proportion. What we know is that while the triggering event may seem small, the underlying sensitivity really is significant. The 'Level 10' response from the 'Level 2' event indicates our inner powder keg and directs us to the real source of the argument. The resolution comes from identifying and addressing the source of our own eruption from seemingly 'dumb stuff'. And recognizing that the 'Level 10' response from the other person is an indication of their inner pain and need for our empathy instead of our offense. As always, we close with a prayer leading to resolution and peace so arguments over trivial things can actually foster a stronger relationship and deeper trust in God.
