Par vienu no senākajām latviešu biedrībām ASV stāsts raidījumā 21. gadsimta latvietis. 1892. gadā deviņi vīri "no Kurzemes", kā saka, pat ja viens bija no Rīgas un viens no Lietuvas, nodibināja vienu no senākajām latviešu biedrībām ASV. Par Filaderlfijas latviešu gaitām cauri gadsimtiem stāsta Maija Medne, kas pati piebiedrojās Filadelfijas latviešiem tikai trešā izbraucēju vilnī pēc Otrā pasaules kara. Par iepriekšējiem izbraucēju viļņiem un par biedrības pirmsākumiem uzzinām no Latvijas Nacionālā Vēstures muzeja pārstāvja Toma Ķikuta un šķirstot Roberta Līduma grāmatu "Latvieši brīvības meklētāji" par Filadelfijas latviešu vēsturi.

The series was built around the character Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, a regular element of the radio situation comedy Fibber McGee and Molly. The character was introduced in the October 3, 1939 episode (number 216) of that series. Actor Harold Peary had played a similarly named character, Dr. Gildersleeve on earlier episodes. The Great Gildersleeve enjoyed its greatest popularity in the 1940s.
