Did you know in the Philippines, there are approximately 130 Philippine Languages as validated by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino? The main languages include: “Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilokano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Bikolano and many more”For this week, we bring to you the Tagalog word: Tayutay, meaning “figure of speech.”Ang Tayutay ay isang pahayag na gumagamit ng mga salita sa isang di-pangkaraniwan o hindi literal na paraan upang mapaigting ang bisà ng kahulugan. Ang ilan sa mga uri ng tayutay ay: pagtutulad, pagwawangis at pagmamalabis. 1) Ang Pagtutulad o Simile ay ginagamit sa paghahambing ng dalawang magkaibang bagay, tao, pangyayari at iba pa. Gumagamit ng mga salitang tulad ng, gaya ng, para ng, kawangis, atbp.2) Ang Pagwawangis namann o metaphor ay katulad ng pagtutulad ngunit hindi ito gumagamit ng mga salita gaya ng sa pagtutulad.3) At panghuli, ang Pagmamalabis o hyperbole. Ito yung lubhang nagpapalabis sa kalagayan ng tao, hayop, bagay at halaman.
