Filling the Vacuum Left Behind by Religion with a Love for Science
from Recovering From Religion · host Recovering From Religion
Bertha Vazquez is an educator and advocate for reason and science. Despite 13 years of Catholic schooling Bertha had a "reverse road to Damascus moment" in her early teens, questioning the sexism and contradictions in her faith. Science soon became her guiding principle. A retired middle school science teacher with 34 years in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Bertha now directs education at the Center for Inquiry, leading a nationwide network of teachers. Bertha will share her journey of deconversion and the power of science, reason, and critical thinking in shaping a meaningful worldview.Guest Links:https://tieseducation.org/What Teachers Want to Know About Teaching Climate Change - https://www.corwin.com/books/teaching-climate-change-289495?srsltid=AfmBOoq5bYXcbjeTfsBEkwsdXIHS1-RQKvWL33Vbd2vrx4YjEBsMMfx3Join Us Live Every Monday!https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/rfrxOur Socials:https://linktr.ee/RecoveringFromReligionhttps://www.facebook.com/RecoveringfromReligionhttps://instagram.com/rfrorghttps://www.tiktok.com/@recoveringfromreligionhttps://bsky.app/profile/recoveringfromreligion.orghttps://www.linkedin.com/company/rfrorg
