Send us Fan MailWHO IS YOUR GOD?Questions Jesus Wants Answered - Part 2Sunday, March 27, 2022How much of our life is planned around money? We hate to admit it, but money has tremendous power over us. The most common marital fight is over money. We spend a lifetime working for it with no assurance that the unforeseen won’t take it all away overnight. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus challenges us to put money back in its proper place and restore God to where He rightfully belongs.SERIES: Questions Jesus Wants AnsweredIn the sermon on the mount, Jesus gets real about money and possessions. According to Jesus, there really are only two ways to live – as if it all depends on us or as if it all depends on God. He promises we’ll have all we truly need if we learn how to trust Him.DISCUSSION QUESTIONS1. Mammon wants to dominate and so saturate your thinking that you never question its influence on your life and decisions. Much like a fish in water, the value system of Mammon is so pervasive that we just accept it as the environment in which we live. This is not good. Unless we make more conscious how it influences our money decisions and behavior, we will continue to live out Mammon’s lies and distortions. What are some beliefs about money that should be questioned (especially those that don’t align with God’s truth)?2. Pastor Keith provided a list of contrasts in the weekend message. Discuss and give examples of the following:Mammon says TAKE; God says GIVE.Mammon says ACCUMULATE; God says SHARE.Mammon is SELFISH; God is GENEROUS.Mammon says “buy and keep.” God says “sow and reap.”Mammon says “cheat and steal.” God says “give and receive.”3. Pastor Keith pointed out that “It’s not what I SAY, but HOW I LIVE that truly defines what is most important to me.” This is an age-old problem Scripture points out in both the Old and New Testaments - to give lip service to truth but not actually live it. It’s an easy trap to fall into and one that seems pretty common given the amount of space dedicated to calling it out in the Bible. Has that ever been true of you? What did you do to bring more integrity to your words? Why do you think people are prone to this?4. Financial advisor and author Ron Blue said, “There are only 5 things we can do with money: pay taxes, spend it, repay debt, save/invest it, or you can give it.” Pastor Keith said most all of us do these five things but what separates us is the order in which we do them. Talk or write about how the order of these financial behaviors has changed in your life over time. Are you happy with how they’re ordered in your life right now? If not, what do you plan to change?https://www.springcreekchurch.org/#realspringcreekchurch #questions #Jesus #money #possessions #pursuit #security #dependonGod #God #promises #trust
