He is the founder of Bamboo Finance, a financial management and literacy app for kids designed specifically to serve the unique needs of Asian families while making financial literacy and management fun and easy.  James previously served as Chief of Staff at VIPKID where he assisted the CEO with fundraising, building out the team, and driving various aspects of the business as it scaled from 30k to 1M students. He also founded a coaching marketplace for professionals in China called 职飞 (Chinese for Direct Flight or Career Flight). James most recently led Corporate Development and Strategy for a dance education startup in LA, and has worked at education-focused venture capital funds, Learn Capital, and University Ventures. He continues to invest in and advise various ed-tech startup companies around the world. James completed his master's at Stanford (Learning, Design & Technology); his undergrad at USC (philosophy, business, and engineering); and an HBS program for executives in China.
