Financial Resources for Veteran Seniors
from Answers For Elders Radio Network
Emily Schwarz from ElderLife Financial joins Suzanne to talk more about financial resources for people who are aging. Among the common misunderstandings for veterans benefits: people think that the serving-in-wartime criteria means you have to have served in combat. That's not the cas. You need to have served a day of active duty during a wartime period, and 90 total active service days, but could have served stateside. You don't have to be injured to qualify for VA's Aid and Attendance Pension. The benefiting spouse need not have been married to the veteran during the time of service, but had to have been married for a year, and were married to the veteran at the time of death.
