Why you need to care about competition law Developments in tech innovation and the FS sectorData, digitisation, and open banking Data access issues Partnering and the pitfallsCollaborations, partnerships, fora/networks, mergers Speaker: Dr Saskia King is a legal director in the Competition & EU Law team at Bird & Bird London, with over 15 years' experience at the cutting edge of UK and EU competition law and policy, having worked at regulators, competition authorities, in academia and private practice, with a particular focus on regulated sectors such as payment systems as well as financial, retail, consumer, sport, technology and communications markets more widely. Dr King has particular expertise as a competition enforcement specialist having joined Bird & Bird from the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) where she was a senior lawyer leading the PSR's first competition cartel investigation in the payments space. Dr King also worked for several years at the Competition and Markets Authority, where she was the legal adviser on a broad range of complex and high profile antitrust investigations and mergers (both at Phase 1 and 2). Dr King also represented the UK's interests internationally at the OECD Competition Committee. Chairman: Robert Pay has extensive experience in both professional and financial services. His chief interest is building both business and brand for know-how rich businesses. His roles have included being a Marketing Manager for a "Big Four" banking and securities practice, and a seven year stint as the Global Chief Marketing Officer of leading international law firm, Clifford Chance. He was Head of Marketing at the London Stock Exchange where he was responsible for the marketing launch of AIM, the smaller companies' market, on whose Board he served; he developed a successful marketing campaign aimed at attracting foreign issuers to London; and marketing of introduction of order-driven trading. He then ran the European arm of a US-based professional services consulting firm for several years before moving back in-house as Global Marketing Director of BSI Management Systems where he introduced an NPD process, and refocused the global marketing function on new product development. Immediately prior to relocating to the United States he was the Chief Marketing Officer for European law firm Taylor Wessing, where he worked with Z/Yen to create the Global IP Index.
