Hey, y'all, welcome to Second Growth, a Friday check-in where I take the tips we drop in the Refine Labs weekly newsletter and apply them for our own brand marketing team, stacking them one on top of the other for our continued evolution and growth. I'm Steph Canola, and this week is focused on connection. I just got back from Boston, where we held our second in-person dinner event of the year. The first one was down here in Austin, talked about it, I guess two months ago at this point, and this week we had one in Boston.

And y'all, we've done so much to broaden our ability to connect with people all across the world. The internet is so good for so many things, and being able to run virtual events like the B2B Roundtable that we hosted on Monday was a huge event. We had lots of people there who were really invested in what Libby and Ciara and Evan were delivering. A lot of people, much more on top of LinkedIn ads now than they would have been before Monday.

But there's not much that can take the place of an in-person connection event. And these dinners have been so good to meet people, like David Kirkdorfer, who has been hanging out with the Refine Labs team since the Demand Gen Live days from the very, very beginning, and now we're getting to meet him in person. And all of these great marketing leaders who are located in Boston or around Boston, and just getting together for a night of good food and good conversation. So as we are kind of preaching the benefit of virtual events and making sure you have content to fuel content, to push your brand forward, start to think about what you can do in your own community.

Are there ways that you can reach out to people around you, whether it's just a coworking day at a coffee shop or something that you can have a cocktail hour or a happy hour or something that just gets people who are interested in the same things in the same room. Ashley, Amber, Sava, a while ago in Austin just said, hey, if you're a writer, you're a content person in Austin, we're just getting together for a lunch. We'll just hang out at this place, and if you want to come, come. And that did so much good for so many people because we were in a room full of like-minded folks who know the struggles of what we're going through.

We didn't have to talk about work. We could talk about work. We could troubleshoot with each other or commiserate or celebrate or talk about anything else that's happening in the world. And making those actual tangible friendships and connections is really crucial.

I hate to use the 2020 now more than ever, but because so many things are happening online now and virtually, it is really important to start to find those in-person networking opportunities. And yeah, it's a really great marketing first touch, right? Like seven years down the line of this person who came to our dinner is looking to hire an agency. Maybe they'll think of this and remember fondly the time we had in Boston eating dinner.

But the goal of it, Megan, has done such a good job of reinforcing just personal and professional celebration of each other. The people in the room got to share what they're excited about personally and professionally. And we talked about the amazing race and traders, and we talked about marketing and AI. And we had so many full and fulfilling conversations.

So thank you so much to everyone who came out for showing up for being there and for being such a good member of this community. I would encourage you all, if you're watching, to, like I said before, find a way to connect with someone in person in real life. It doesn't have to be a formal dinner. It can be something small, just a chance for connection.

So that's my big exciting thing for the week. As I mentioned, we did our B2B round table this Monday on LinkedIn ads. Libby is an absolute vault of knowledge. And so we are publishing that on our feed on Tuesday, May 29.

So make sure you're keeping an eye out for that. And next month, our June B2B round table is going to be on Facebook ads. Meta is such a treasure trove and underrated in a lot of ways. And we've got Melin on to talk about it.

So you do not want to miss it. Keep an eye out for the registration link. We also have so many more exciting events coming out this month. June is stacked with measurement and brand workshops.

So please, if you are not subscribed to our newsletter, do that. The link is below. Make sure that you are signing up to get the text. And then also coming back to hear me talk about the same things on this video on Fridays.

So that's it for me today. If you are watching, go ahead and do us a favor. Drop in the comment how you found this. Were you scrolling YouTube?

Were you in our newsletter? And you got a link? Are you following me on LinkedIn? Are you my mom?

Probably if you're one person watching. So let us know how you found us. And we will see you all next week.
