Finding Belonging Through PTK with Payson Avery
from Pack Perspective Podcast Hosted by ptkpackperspective
Welcome to the very first episode of The Pack Perspective Podcast, a student-run show from SMCC’s Phi Theta Kappa (Alpha Chi Nu) chapter. Hosted by Bree Michaud and Aidan Burchill, this series amplifies student voices and explores the power of connection, leadership, and belonging on campus. In our premiere episode, Bree sits down with Payson Avery—former PTK President, Student Senate Vice President, and volunteer firefighter. Payson shares his journey from feeling hesitant about joining PTK to stepping into leadership roles that transformed his confidence, expanded his community, and even influenced his career path. Together, Bree and Payson dive into the impact of PTK projects like the Captain’s Cupboard, the recognition their chapter has earned, and the life-changing experiences of attending Catalyst conferences. Most of all, they reflect on how getting involved can turn SMCC into more than just a place to study—it becomes a place to belong. Listen in for authentic stories of growth, resilience, and student life at SMCC—and find out how PTK can open doors to leadership, scholarships, and lifelong connections.
