Finding Meaning in a Life Without Screws
from NeuroNarratives Hosted by Sho Oshita
Recently, driven by a flicker of curiosity, I had my palm read. As the practitioner traced the lines of my life and fate, they offered a sentiment that lingered long after I left: “You are a person whose luck opens up by helping others. The hardships of your youth will become weapons in the second half of your life.” At the time, my skeptical mind filtered this through a professional lens. I imagined “luck” manifest as a successful book, a hit podcast, or a meaningful lecture. I did not realize that the very next day, a small kitten named Angel would enter my life and dismantle my definitions of luck, hardship, and help. We often dismiss the profound as “mere coincidence” to maintain a sense of logical control, but Angel’s brief presence forced me to confront a deeper truth: the meaning of our lives is not found in the things we fix, but in the pace at which we are willing to walk.
