Finding peace while learning to forgive in 2025

from Quiet In The Night · host Bill Scott

Forgiving from the Heart Forgiveness can feel like one of life's greatest challenges, especially when the wound is deep. Yet, it is a central part of living in God's grace. Ephesians 4:32 reminds us, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Forgiving someone doesn't mean excusing their behavior or denying the pain they caused. Instead, it's a choice to release the bitterness that holds your heart captive. When we forgive, we reflect God's love and allow His healing to work within us. Jesus exemplified this on the cross when He prayed, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing"(Luke 23:34). If He could forgive in such unimaginable circumstances, surely we can lean on His strength to forgive in ours. Begin by bringing your hurt to God in prayer. Be honest about your emotions, and ask Him to help you see the person through His eyes. Remember, forgiveness is as much for your freedom as theirs. Over time, the act of forgiveness transforms our hearts, filling us with peace and making space for God's grace to flow abundantly. Choose to forgive today and walk in the light of God's love.
