Danimal Lector, born Dan Yatsinko, is a hip-hop artist from Stratford, Connecticut. Known as D. Lector, he views hip-hop as a lifestyle integral to his identity. His music journey began in childhood with a remix of Nas’s “Street Dreams” and evolved through DJing and producing. Despite a challenging period where he considered quitting music, Danimal found his way back, now thriving as a graphic designer and full-time musician. Influenced by artists like Royce 5’9”, Vinnie Paz, and Wu-Tang Clan, he remains fiercely independent, controlling his creative process. Danimal has performed at venues across the US, including Toad's Place in New Haven, CT, and has collaborated with notable artists like Crooked I and Statik Selektah. His favorite producers include RZA and Alchemist, with “Belly Up” featuring Apathy being one of his standout tracks.
