Finding Safety in Self-Disclosure | Guiding Others in Learning How to Treat Our Sharing with Caring

from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

Finding Safety in Self-Disclosure | Guiding Others in Learning How to Treat Our Sharing with Caring Taking about significant experiences can be daunting. Whether it's a high or a low, we never know how people might respond. Many of us have stopped taking the opportunity to be vulnerable because we've been burned. In that, we chose to self-disclosure and rather than be met with empathy and compassion, we found ourselves blindsided by criticism and judgment. These experiences are especially painful when they catch us off guard, and come from people that we thought would have behaved and responded differently. I've learned in life that psychological safety is not just something we hope for, it's something we need to be ready to fight for too. Not loudly, or even rudely, but by establishing boundaries. Teaching others to treat our sharing with caring. Do you have any questions?
