Finding Spiritual Focus

In our previous study (Philippians 3:12-16) we learned about experiencing forward spiritual momentum. But the problem with momentum alone is that while it can propel you ahead it can also be taking you down the wrong road. Consider for example the latest terrorist act in San Bernardino, California. The shooters had lots of zealous momentum yet they were completely focused on the wrong thing spiritually. Obviously, for spiritual momentum to be genuinely effective it has to be coupled with the right focus. So here’s what we have to see . . . When we allow spiritual momentum and true spiritual focus to be brought together in our lives by the Holy Spirit then we will be right where we are supposed to be in our walk with Jesus. It means that spiritually we’ll not only have the wind in our sails but that it will be blowing us toward the right shore! What then are the things that our Lord would have us focus our eyes upon spiritually to give direction to our momentum? The Apostle Paul gives us six spiritual realities to be looking at constantly in order to find our spiritual focus in a world that is completely out of focus.
