Finding the Bridge Between Celtic & Folk #174

from PUB SONGS & STORIES · host Marc Gunn

Sometimes the things that matter most to us don't matter as much to those we serve.  The Bridge is still one of my favorite albums. It features one of the best songs I feel like I ever recorded—"Peggy Gordon".  And yet no one talks about the album.  There are many reasons why this may be. But one may be it just hasn't found its audience.  They say anonymity is the greatest obstacle for musicians. So I'm gonna share this album in its entirety to reach a few more people.  If enjoy the album, buy it. Or add it to your library on Spotify. Share the show.   Pub Songs Podcast is music and community. If you like, tell a friend or interact. Support me on Patreon. Subscribe to the podcast and my mailing list. I'm a Celtic Geek musician and podcaster. Once again, I'm sharing one of my albums from start to finish.  The Irish diaspora to America brought the happy gift of Irish music, informing and influencing folk, ragtime, blues and even jazz. In this unique collection of original and traditional music, Celtic American musician Marc Gunn leafs through music known, remembered and new to find common themes, melodies and memories.  The Bridge is just that – a connection not only between Irish and American music, but also between Marc Gunn's previous work primarily in Celtic music and his roots in folk, and newer influences of blues and jazz for this New Orleans-based musician.  Above all, the Bridge expresses Marc Gunn's deep love for the music of both his home and where his heart resides. CREDITS released January 15, 2010  Produced by Rich Brotherton. Marc Gunn, autoharp and vocals. Jamie Haeuser, bodhran and background vocals. Samantha Gillogly, fiddle. Bethany McLyr, flute. Rich Brotherton, Guitar and octave mandolin.  Cover art by Marc Gunn.
