Finding Your Inner Stability & Cultivating a Connection with the Natural World with Alyssa Benjamin

from But, What If You Did?® · host Alyson Pallanck

9/11 taught us how unstable our external world was. The financial crash taught us that careers are not guaranteed even if you work hard. These pivotal shifts in our external world challenged our core beliefs and has left our generation searching for answers for more than a decade. The Covid-19 pandemic taught us to pause and gave us the opportunity to do the soul growth work that was so very much needed but ignored as we wore ‘busy’ as a badge of honor. Alyssa believes many of the struggles we collectively experienced over the last year were a direct result of the forced pause and the fact that majority of people simply weren’t adequately equipped to face that level of discomfort.  With this, Alyssa shares her personal experience with resigning from her eight-year career in the corporate world—to relate to the collective feeling. In the summer of 2018, Alyssa resigned and found herself in a pause. She was forced to sit with and confront feelings, health issues, and with questions she had long avoided. It was at that point that Alyssa started to see the connection between connecting with the natural world and how she felt. Curious whether nature could be the answer she was looking for, Alyssa felt called to start the ‘Our Nature’ podcast which is all about learning to connect back to the natural world. Life is really about pieces of calm between transitional seasons, and through her work, Alyssa teaches us to cultivate an inner stability and inner resilience that will help us to weather life’s storms with ease. To learn more about Alyssa's story and her upcoming ‘Homecoming’ retreat/course debuting this Fall be sure to stick around until the end of the episode!About Alyssa Benjamin:Alyssa Benjamin is a brand and creative strategist with a passion for building compelling strategies for brands and people who desire to foster a more sustainable, ethical, and equitable world. She specializes in brand strategy, creative strategy, content/editorial strategy, and social media strategy. In addition, Alyssa also writes and works as an editor for various publications. Outline of the episode:●      [03:29] 9/11 and the financial crash – how those events shaped our view of the world●      [11:57] The "ME" generation●      [16:09] Happiness isn't something that you get; it's something that arises●      [25:29] Alyssa: On the questions Oprah asks at the end of every 'Super Soul Sunday' episode●      [29:59] With a creative and curious spirit, you can connect with nature anytime, anywhere!●      [32:59] "The profound is in the pause."●      [34:22] How 'Our Nature' came to be.●      [40:05] The 'Homecoming' Course: Return to nature, come home to yourself – For people who are in moments of transitionConnect with Alyssa:Website        LinkedIn       Instagram       Learn more about Alyssa's Retreat 'Homecoming'!Book an intro call with Alyssa about her new 'Homecoming' course:Check out 'Our Nature' Podcast!FULL SHOW NOTESDisclaimer: I am an educator.
