Finding Your Voice at Work: A Woman’s Guide to Confidence, Allies, and Career Growth

In a recent episode of "Confident You," I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with Virginia Hitch, also known as Ginny, an accredited coach who is passionate about helping others overcome barriers in entering or progressing in workplaces where the environment is not built with them in mind. She was initially trained in performance management coaching in the 1990s as part of a training programme delivered by Sir John Whitmore (GROW coaching model). Virginia's journey, particularly her experiences as a woman in technology and change management during the 1990s, offers invaluable insights into the barriers women face in the workplace and the importance of self-investment and finding one's voice. It also offers a roadmap for how we can reclaim our voice and power through self-investment and community support.Virginia transitioned from a successful career in the financial services, working in an environment where she was one of the few women. Her passion for self-development, being the first to adapt to new initiatives, networking, and having male allies enabled her to thrive.Her visualisation of the first insight into coaching was the key in deciding on a new career where she could utilise more fully her skills and support individuals to find their passion, as she had now found hers.
