Fire at The Blake Assisted Living | Jacksonville News

A fire erupted at The Blake in St. Johns late last night after a storm, with flames shooting from the west roof—possibly sparked by lightning hitting a chimney. Though no injuries came from the blaze, one resident suffered a medical emergency during the chaos and was hospitalized but is now stable. Evacuations were complicated for those in wheelchairs or unable to move, with some residents told to stay put on the east side while crews battled the fire. A reunification point was set up for families, and others are being relocated with Red Cross assistance—showcasing a swift, coordinated effort to keep everyone safe.
