First Day of Filming Has Wrapped - 9/27/2021: A Phil Svitek Vlog

from A Phil Svitek Podcast - A Series From Your 360 Creative Coach · host Phil Svitek

We officially began production on my 2nd feature film! Well, sorta, kinda... We filmed all the green screen stuff here in LA because it's easier to do here rather than in Colombia where the majority of filming will take place. Also, we filmed this a month and change in advance, just to wet our feet a little AND because these shots will require the most time to complete in terms of the final sequence in the movie. This is what I talk about in this episode of my vlog. But before I fully do, I share things in the week leading up to the shoot. I talk about learning more about make-up and selecting looks for the actors, just like we did with wardrobe. I share how I revised the script yet again to make it tighter/better. And I share a guiding principle for this entire venture, which is I want this to be "better" than my first film AND that it already is. I also talk about Alwin Kuchler (cinematographer for THE MAURITANIAN, STEVE JOBS, DIVERGENT, etc) and how on a recent episode of Team Deakins (https://teamdeakins.libsyn.com/alwin-kuchler-cinematographer) he shared a quote that I absolutely love. There's lots of nuggets in there for you to utilize, so enjoy. Thanks for tuning in. Also, feel free to ask questions or offer opinions of your own, whether down in the comment section or by hitting me up on social media @PhilSvitek. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
