First Love

You can have sound doctrine… Serve faithfully… Work tirelessly… And still miss what matters most. In Revelation 2:1–7, Jesus commends the church at Ephesus for their endurance, discernment, and perseverance—but then He says the words no believer wants to hear: “I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first.” It’s possible to do all the right things… and lose the right heart. Christianity was never meant to become routine. It was meant to be a relationship. So stop and ask yourself: Do I still love Jesus the way I did when I first met Him? Or have I gotten so busy doing things for Him that I’ve forgotten to simply be with Him? Return to your first love. Because Jesus doesn’t just want your service— He wants your heart.
