Patricia S. Lemer. M.Ed., LPC, is the Host and Moderator of The Autism Detective. Her career as an educational diagnostician has spanned over 50 years. She is always looking for clues to the possible root causes of childhood developmental, behavioral, and learning issues. She is the author of 3 books on healing Autism Spectrum Disorders. Her most recent book, Outsmarting Autism: Build a Healthy Foundation for Communication, Socialization, and Behavior at all Ages, has been called "the Bible" of autism. It covers 5 important steps to take from diagnosis through the lifespan, including prevention. In this episode, she gives her personal and professional background, and how she looks for clues. She discusses the not-for- profit organization she cofounded, her experiences establishing a center for young adults with disabilities in Kuwait, and her ideas for future broadcasts.
