Deacon Alex Solsma's homily for the First Sunday of Lent (Year A). It was given during a Mass at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on February 22, 2026. Gospel: Matthew 4:1-11; First Reading: Genesis 2:7-9, 3:1-7 *** This podcast features homilies from Deacon Alex Solsma.  Solsma was ordained as a transitional deacon for the Diocese of Arlington on April 26, 2025. He has been a seminarian for the Diocese of Arlington studying at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia since August of 2021.  As part of the training and preparation process for ordination to the priesthood, transitional deacons continue to take classes but also work in parishes to gain pastoral experience. God willing, Deacon Solsma will be ordained to the priesthood in June of 2026.
