Fish Lake Gets a Fresh Start | Spokane News

Fish Lake in Spokane County is ditching trout for bass and bluegill—yes, all catch limits are lifted until October 17th as crews prep to wipe the lake clean with rotenone to start fresh. Invasive species like pumpkinseed and tench wrecked the trout habitat, so they’re flipping the script with warmwater fish for a whole new fishing vibe. Meanwhile, the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission holds its first virtual meeting since Commissioner Victor Garcia’s passing, with a light agenda, and Spokane Audubon Society hosts a wildlife-friendly landscaping talk Wednesday night—perfect for bird lovers and eco-designers alike.
