Five Heroes Honored for Canfield Mountain Valor | Spokane News

Five first responders were honored with Idaho’s highest bravery award after a harrowing ambush on Canfield Mountain that killed two firefighters. Despite being shot and paralyzed, Engineer David Tysdal rolled in his wheelchair to accept his medal — to thunderous applause — as his family watched in awe and grief. The ceremony spotlighted not just heroism, but the lasting scars of trauma: from step-children recalling their mother’s terror to a daughter describing daily struggles helping her paralyzed father. The Medal of Honor stands as both tribute and reminder — a solemn testament to courage forged in tragedy. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
