Five Orangutan Babies Found in India | Calgary News

Five baby orangutans—critically endangered and native only to Borneo and Sumatra—were found in India, sparking an urgent investigation into suspected smuggling. Rescued by forest officials in the Jaleswar range, the three males and two females are now in quarantine at a state zoo, receiving medical care and special diets as they recover. This heartbreaking discovery underscores the dire threats orangutans face from habitat destruction and poaching, while also hinting at a possible international trafficking network. The footage of their rescue and care offers both hope and a stark reminder of the stakes involved in protecting these vulnerable primates.
