Five Weeks in a Balloon Chapter 22

In which a mysterious electric light unveils a harrowing scene beneath the baobab—a missionary, grievously wounded and held captive by a savage tribe, is rescued with tender care aboard a balloon traversing the African wilderness. Through days of vigilant nursing and solemn conversation, the travellers encounter nature’s fury as they pass over a magnificent and perilous volcanic eruption, all while the missionary reflects on his life of sacrifice and faith.
