Five Words That Drove The Church to Kill William Tyndale, Pt 5: Love, not Acts of Charity (66)
from The UnSunday Show · host Mike Adams
This episode is the last of five episodes exploring William Tyndale's use of five words in his translation of the Greek New Testament into English, that resulted in his death at the hands of church leaders. In this series I've been concentrating more on the meaning of the words and their intent, than I have been about the religious climate of the day. The five words are:Elder instead of PriestCongregation instead of ChurchRepent instead of Do PenanceAcknowledge instead of ConfessLove instead of Acts of CharityTyndale (1494-1536) was killed for refusing to translate these five words the way the church wanted them translated. His refusal to conform to the institutional church's directives, resulted in his death by strangulation, followed by his body being burned. In this episode, we look at his choice of the word love instead of acts of charity. The book I recommend in this series – William Tyndale: A Biography, by David Daniell. https://amzn.to/3BhYMr1 --------------Other Places You’ll Find Me:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@unsundayshow
