As the saying goes, there are only two things you can count on in life: death and taxes. No matter how good or hard life feels, death still waits, and any escape from pain is only temporary. We need something more, something that actually holds. And that’s exactly what Jesus gives. Not just a story, but a living Savior who died, rose, and now reigns. On Ascension Sunday, we see that the risen Jesus hasn’t left us, he rules for us. Because he lives, we will live. Because he reigns, nothing is out of his control. Heaven isn’t just a distant hope, it’s our future, secured by the One who has gone ahead of us. Jesus is not only risen. He is reigning.
