Flag Removed Before Officials Could Act | Belfast News

A provocative flag reading “f your Irish language” flew for two months on a Belfast lamppost — prompting the Department for Infrastructure to order its removal. But before contractors could act, it vanished mysteriously. Officials flip-flopped: just weeks prior, they said there wasn’t enough community support to remove it, but now claim Minister Liz Kimmins ordered its takedown. No one’s saying who pulled it down. Irish language advocates welcome its disappearance, calling it an abusive and intimidating symbol that has no place in public spaces — hoping this moment sets a precedent for future actions.
