🚨 FLOOD WARNING - New York Weather 3/14 - Evening

from The New York Weather Podcast

Good evening. New York. I'm Aaron Jolly. Happy Saturday, folks. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight today, but you mightn't notice much sunshine. A cold front is sweeping through, bringing a reality check after our recent warmth. Step outside and you'll feel the difference immediately, down in New York City, you're sitting at 38 degrees. Head north to Albany and the Capital Region, while and the thermometer drops to 25. Out in Buffalo and Western New York. Here comes 26 degrees. As the sun sets. Tonight, skies clear out but the cold settles in. New York City holds at 38, while Albany and Buffalo plunge into the 20s. You'll want that heavy jacket if you're heading out tonight. Sunday looks pleasant, but it's the calm before the storm, highs range from 46 in Albany to 52 in the city. It's the perfect day to get your errands done. Here comes the heavy weather, a powerful system arrives late Sunday night. Monday brings heavy rain and strong winds. Highs will be warm, in the upper 50s to low 60s, but it will be windy and wet. Rainfall totals could reach an inch, with thunderstorms possible. The drama happens Monday night, a strong cold front crashes through. Temperatures will plummet 30 degrees in a matter of hours, rain changes to snow, potentially leading to a messy Tuesday morning commute. Tuesday is a shock to the system. Highs only reach the 30s in the city and stay near freezing elsewhere. Gusty westerly winds will make it feel much colder, we dry out midweek, but temperatures remain well below normal for mid-March. As the sun sets. Grab that extra blanket tonight, you'll thank me at 3 A.M. We'll be back with your next forecast evening. See you tomorrow.
