Floods Disrupt Sacred Pilgrimage in Nepal | US News

Severe flooding near Nepal’s border with Tibet has stranded pilgrims and tourists, including several Americans, as rescue efforts race against time. Three U.S. citizens have been rescued, but others remain missing — including travel enthusiast Venus Rajnikant Patel, 45, and his father Jitendra Patel, 72, who was on a dream trip to Tibet. Families back home are gripped by anxiety as the Isha Foundation works to locate affiliated members caught in the chaos. The U.S. government confirms no American deaths yet, while President Biden has pledged aid to Nepal amid growing fears for those still unaccounted for — including local guides also cut off from contact.
