FLOURISHING DESPITE THE STORM

from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix

📖 Scripture “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither.” — Psalm 1:3 Devotional Message Storms are an unavoidable part of life. There are seasons when circumstances become difficult, prayers seem delayed, plans are disrupted, and the future looks uncertain. Yet God has not called His children merely to survive storms. He can strengthen us to flourish even in the midst of them. A tree planted by rivers remains connected to its source of nourishment. When strong winds blow, its roots hold firm. When the weather changes, it continues to draw life from the water beneath it. This is a picture of a believer who is deeply rooted in God. Your ability to flourish is not determined only by what is happening around you. It is also determined by what is happening within you and by the source to which you remain connected. When your roots are in Christ: You can have peace in the middle of pressure. You can have faith in the middle of uncertainty. You can have hope when circumstances look hopeless. You can remain fruitful even during difficult seasons. The disciples experienced a storm on the sea while Jesus was with them. The storm was real, but so was the presence of Christ. Their security was not in the absence of wind and waves; it was in the presence of Jesus. Sometimes God calms the storm around you. Other times, He strengthens you to stand until the storm passes. Either way, His presence is your confidence. Do not allow the storm to make you abandon your roots. Keep praying. Keep reading God's Word. Keep worshipping. Keep trusting. Keep obeying. Keep believing. The storm may shake your surroundings, but it does not have to destroy your faith. Storms can also produce growth. They can deepen your roots, strengthen your character, teach you patience, and reveal the faithfulness of God. What you learn in the storm may become the testimony you use to encourage someone else after the storm. Therefore, do not measure God's love by the intensity of your current circumstances. He remains faithful even when life becomes difficult. Your storm has an expiration date. The winds will eventually settle. The clouds will eventually clear. And the God who sustained you through the storm will receive the glory for bringing you through it. Stay rooted. Stay faithful. Stay hopeful. You can flourish despite the storm because your source is greater than your circumstances. Today, Ask Yourself Am I allowing my current storm to determine my outlook, or am I remaining rooted in God's presence and trusting Him to sustain me? Prayer Almighty Father, thank You for being my refuge in every storm. When life becomes difficult, help me remain rooted in You. Give me peace when I am troubled, strength when I am weak, and faith when I cannot see the way forward. Use every storm to deepen my roots and strengthen my character. Help me continue to flourish and bear fruit for Your glory, regardless of my circumstances. In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏
