Flyers Trade Ersson for Woll

The Flyers pull off a bold trade, sending Sam Ersson, Emil Andrae, and a 2026 third-round pick to Toronto for Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit — effectively ending Andrae’s Philly tenure and giving Ersson a fresh start. With Dan Vladar locked in for six seasons, Woll steps in as backup, showing promise with a .906 save percentage but facing questions after a recent dip. Benoit, slated as the seventh defenseman, brings physicality — a trait the Flyers now prioritize after their playoff run. Ersson’s move offers redemption, while Woll’s potential revival could form a strong tandem. The loss of that draft pick leaves Philly with no selections between rounds 2-6 — forcing them to decide whether to chase more draft capital or sit this one out.
