Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery - Washington Beer Talk #6

from Washington Beer Talk · host Andrew Bieber

This week I visited Flying Bike Coop Brewery in Greenwood. Head brewer Kevin and board member David join me in the busy taproom to talk about running a coop. The first ever coop brewery in Washington, Flying Bike has its own set of interesting challenges and that includes making all decisions democratically. That means the members get to decide what beers get brewed and whose recipe to use, as well as big business decisions. As they say, this is sometimes to their benefit and perhaps sometimes to their detriment. Having over 1800 people with a stake in the brewery who contribute their wide variety of skills and assets should make running a brewery a breeze! Note from the editor: lessons were learned in managing background noise in the making of this episode. To put that another way, Flying Bike invites dogs and kids to come hang! Join the Coop today and get all kinds of great benefits including dollar off pints and two dollars off growler fills.
